The Delaware Department of Education’s Educator Excellence Workgroup is launching the Teacher Leadership Whole School Professional Development Initiative for Redding Consortium Schools, on the research-based premise that if we elevate exemplary teachers to teacher leadership roles and provide the necessary time and resources for them to build the capacity of other teachers, we will not only ensure that all students have access to effective teachers who can promote equitable learning for all, but that all students have access to great teachers, and the educator workforce is strengthened and retained. It also supports the theory-of-action that if we prepare, coach, and train teacher leaders to support teachers’ professional growth and instructional capacity, ensuring that teachers can leverage evidence-based instructional practices, then all students’ differentiated learning needs will be met.
