Project details

Project No. 583-22-106 - Replace Electrical Panels & Expand Distribution. The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center (RLR VAMC) has developed this project for the purpose of replacing and expanding the electrical distribution infrastructure serving the A-Wing of Building 1 (the main hospital tower). Generally, the work shall be required to include, but not be limited to the replacement and expansion of the secondary electrical distribution system serving A-Wing of Building 1 and the expansion and modification of the existing primary Medical Center campus electrical distribution system as required to support those improvements including work associated within Building 01 (A-Wing), Building 23, and adjacent exterior/campus utility areas as indicated in the contract drawings and specifications. Work located at 1481 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202-2803. Due to the critical nature of the Medical Center electrical infrastructure and the extended lead times associated with replacement medium-voltage breakers, the Government requires an immediately available breaker for redundancy in case of an existing feeder breaker failure. The addition of this breaker to the acquisition will restore the system’s current redundancy that will be diminished by the expansion. The Eaton VCP-W breakers are capable of use without modification to existing switchgear cubicles, wiring, control circuits, protection systems, Truck Operating Contacts (TOC), Mechanism Operating Contacts (MOC), or associated electrical interfaces. All interested and capable vendors who bid this project will be able to provide this brand name product as a part of their offer. Fair and reasonable for this name brand item will be determined with the bids as received. The CO expects to receive fair and reasonable bids, with that determination being made in comparison with the government’s estimate or through competition. No market research conducted regarding this brand name item. This J&A approves a single item being labeled as brand name under a much larger procurement. The entire competition pool will be able to bid on the project including this item.
