The Finney County Commission approved an amendment to a contract ex-panded civil engineering and survey services related to the Finney County Jail Detention Center project at its regular meeting on May 18. Derek Ramos, Finney County Administrator, said the County Commission initially approved the selection of Kaw Valley Engineering, Inc. for civil engi-neering and surveying services for the project on Feb. 2. “Kaw Valley Engineering was selected following a Request for Proposals process coor-dinated by HMN Architects, Inc., the county’s architect of record for the Jail Detention Center project,” he said. “HMN Architects recommended Kaw Valley Engineering based on the firm’s project understand-ing, coordination capability, familiarity with local site condi-tions, and integrated delivery approach for both engineering and surveying services.” The original scope of work included boundary and topo-graphic surveying, preliminary and final civil site design, utili-ty coordination, grading and drainage design, and construc-tion administration services for the approximately 14-acre de-tention center site. The original contract was for $60,000, which is broken down into $45,000 for civil engineering services and $14,500 for survey-ing services, Ramos said. On April 24, Kaw Valley Engineering submitted a pro-posal for supplemental work deemed necessary to continue advancing the project, Ramos said. The supplemental services include: Lift station and force main de-sign for $26,200 Additi Published in The Garden City Telegram (Finney County County) on 2026-05-26.
