Tulalip Tribes - Natural & Cultural Resources Department, Washington. The Tulalip Tribes and partners propose to restore and enhance floodplain connections within the Tualco Valley, located in Snohomish County, Washington, about 2 miles southwest of. Due Jun 15 (1 day left).

About this solicitation

The Tulalip Tribes and partners propose to restore and enhance floodplain connections within the Tualco Valley, located in Snohomish County, Washington, about 2 miles southwest of the city of Monroe. Riley Slough is a 6-mile-long side channel of the Skykomish River, located near Monroe, Washington in the Tualco Valley. Riley Slough and the Snohomish Confluence side channels historically provided critical spawning and rearing habitat for Chinook salmon and other fish species. Over the past century, Riley Slough has become degraded with water quantity and drainage changes that have reduced the connectivity of Riley Slough and associated critical habitats for salmon. Tulalip will work to restore and enhance connection of Riley Slough with the Snoqualmie and Skykomish Rivers and enhance salmon access to priority off-channel habitat for Endangered Species Act listed species such as Chinook salmon. Project elements include excavation to enhance connection with Riley Slough and surface connected wetlands, installing Engineered Log Jams in the Rivers and excavated side channels to enhance salmon habitat, and grading to enhance hydrology of the project area. Most of this work will occur on Tulalip owned property adjacent to the WDFW owned Crescent Lake Wildlife Area Unit. The result of this project will be increased salmon and other species habitat and enhanced natural process function while maintaining the current use and access to the Crescent Lake Wildlife Area Unit.
