The academy includes a Class A burn building, a Class A burn material storage, a classroom building, a confined space platform/trench rescue prop, a confined space equipment storage building, drafting pits, a multiuse drill tower with an active threat layouts, a rooftop simulator and gas burn props, a driver training pad, a dumpster pad, an extrication pad, a fire simulation pad, a fire training building, a flashover simulator, a K9 training area, a lawfit obstacle course, a law enforcement training building, Liquid Propane (LP) tanks, mobile props, an outdoor classroom building, an outdoor classroom/cone storage building, a police muster pad, a rail car simulator, a sheriff muster pad, shoring/Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) equipment storage, a tanker truck simulator, an underground containment tank, an urban search and rescue area and a wet BMP training pond. The facility will be served by a self-contained sanitary sewer and drain field, also included in the Work. The The academy is developed in two distinct quads - one with the academic/classroom buildings and another with outdoor training facilities. The primary access to the training facility utilizes the existing access road from South Battlefield Boulevard that currently provides access to the existing fire station and police precinct. As staff and visitors approach the academy training facilities, they are welcomed with a tree-line street that leads to the academy training facilities and classroom buildings. Parking areas are conveniently located near each cluster of buildings and activity areas.
